Fisherman's Paradise

Boasting one of the state’s best trout streams, Bear Lake Reserve in Tuckasegee, N.C. will
complete its first residential cabins by year’s end in a project that will feature a proposed fishing
village among its amenities. Located on the shores of 475- acre Bear Creek Lake in the shadow of the Blue Ridge and Great Smoky mountains and within 20 miles of the Pisgah and Nantahala national forests, the reserve is being developed by Centex Destination Properties, creators of projects in
Florida,Texas and Hawaii. Spanning approximately 2,100 acres with lots ranging from one-half to 13 acres, Bear Lake Reserve will include a beach club and marina, hiking trails, an event and performance lawn, outdoor pavilion, nine-hole Nicklaus-design golf course and community hearths. Buyers have
a choice of building lots or craftsman-style two- and three bedroom cottages set at varying
elevations. Prices for cottages start in the mid-$400,000 range, while building lots run from $155,000 to $675,000.To learn more, contact Ryan Gamble at (877) 232-7553 or gamble@centexhomes.com.

2005 Dream Home at Little Pine

The Preserve at Little Pine, located 25 minutes outside Asheville, N.C., broke ground in August for the construction of the 2005 Southern Accents Dream Home. The design, by Asheville architect Robert Griffin, carries out the environment-conscious theme of the community and will use recycled materials, such as furniture and flooring. Completion date for the project is April 1. Set in Marshall, N.C., Little Pine was developed by native Jack Fisher and Renaissance Ventures, and procured through a conservation easement managed by the Smoky Mountain National Land Trust. Phase Three of the 70 home sites was opened in April. The two-year-old community, with designs by Brevard, N.C. architect Al Platt, also came in second in the 2004 HGTV Dream Home competition. No-Worry Ownership

In a trouble-and-work-free twist on having a mountain home, Balsam Mountain Preserve, a private residential community in the Great Smoky Mountains, has launched The Boarding House Partners Program at its location 48 miles west of Asheville. Under the program introduced in late summer, 40 families will acquire membership in the 4,400- acre natural preserve, with a deeded real estate interest and exclusive eight-week annual use of the 10 handcrafted mountain cottages. The homes are designed with one and two bedrooms, and members may reserve several to accommodate themselves, immediate family and friends during two weeks each season. They can also enjoy all community privileges in the two-year-old, 350-homestead location, which is currently constructing The Sports Garden, with tennis, fitness and swimming facilities, and an Arnold Palmer-signature golf course, with its challenging course and clubhouse. Boarding House memberships will be priced in the $200,000-$250,000 range. For additional information, call (866) 452-3456 or visit www.BalsamMountainPreserve.com.
