J.T. Cooper Studio primarily produces lighting fixtures that are hand-shaped and welded metal, primarily textured bronze and copper. Stainless steel, steel and aluminum are other materials that are used. Cooper uses a variety of art glasses for panes, and occasionally blown glass from glass artists in the region are incorporated into the fixtures. Cooper has developed a special patination process that gives the textured bronze and copper the appearance of age. The work combines original designs and interpretation of traditional forms. The studio also produces bas-relief panes and cabinet door/drawer pulls and handles.
